This time of the year many people experience similar feelings. You would think that all the activity would bring fulfillment. The one thing that so many forget is that God created you and me to have fellowship or relationship with us. We can get so busy doing so many things that we forget the most important of thing of all. Just spending some quiet time with God. That emptiness you are feeling is your spirit longing to draw closer to God. Holidays, family, friends, things are all fine and good but they can not fill that spot created in each one of that only God can fill. Try taking some time and just telling God that you want to know Him better and then just be still and let Him speak to your heart.

In First Thessalonians 4 & 5 both of these events are mentioned. The Rapture is when Jesus Christ descends from heaven and all those who have accepted Him as Lord and Savior will be changed in a twinkling of an eye. They will be caught up or raptured to meet the Lord in the air and then return with Him to heaven. The Day of the Lord begins immediately following that event. This is be a time period of seven years when the wrath and judgment of God will be poured out upon this world. This time is also known as the Great Tribulation and many of the events are spoken about in the book of Revelation. No man knows the day or the hour when these things will happen but we are to live like it could be any moment. Are you ready? This was the very beginning of Jesus’ earthly ministry where He had just finished reading from the prophet Isaiah and then proclaimed, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled”. When Jesus said that He was actually saying that He was the anointed One sent by God. He was proclaiming that He was the Christ, the Messiah. The prophet Isaiah also proclaimed that a Savior would be born. These people were not ready to accept that Jesus was that person. Jesus was either a liar, a lunatic or the Lord. Because of His ministry, His atoning death and literal resurrection we know that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior. Jesus is alive today and people are still discovering the meaning and purpose of life by accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior. |
