The pastor was correct in saying, "God intended for marriage to be between one man and one woman". That was God's plan and desire but man does not always follow God's plan. The men who married more than one woman in the Bible were not following God's intended plan for a family. One of the Ten Commandments deal with not committing adultery. The New Testament talks about husbands having only one wife. The entire issue of same sex marriage has always been prohibited in God's Word. Every major religion in the world for thousands of years have taught against same sex relationships/marriages. This recent acceptance of living together before marriage, same sex marriages are all indications of people living their life without concern of what God has said. When we no longer care or obey God's plan we are sinning and separating ourselves from God.

I have been living together with this person and their children for over three years. We have a great intimate relationship but can’t agree on how the children should be disciplined. I stepped in and corrected them and was basically told to move out. Was I wrong in what I did? Jesus talked about two men in Matthew 7. One He called wise and one He called foolish. The wise man heard the words of Jesus and followed them. That man was compared to one who builds a house on a solid foundation. The foolish man was the one who heard the same words but didn’t do them. He was compared to a man who built a house without a solid foundation. When the storm came only the house with a solid foundation remained standing. You are trying to build a family, a relationship without following the words of Jesus. Living together outside of marriage is fornication, which God says is sin. Your relationship was not built on a good foundation. God has a plan for you, for raising a family. Follow His plan and be wise. Let me ask, “how good do you have to be to go to heaven or how bad do you have to be to go to hell?” The bible says that “all have sinned and fall short”. That means that no one is good enough to make it to heaven. That is why God sent His Son into the world so that the world could be saved. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No man can come to the Father except through Me”. So the answer is that those who accept Jesus as the only Savior can go to heaven. Those that don’t won’t. Sin is serious and only by accepting God’s way for forgiveness can anyone be sure of heaven. |
